Chiropractic adjustments for infants and children are far less forceful than an adult adjustment would be due to the child’s smaller size and less developed muscles. Infants are typically adjusted with fingertip pressure, often while being held by the chiropractor or one of the parents. Older kids can be adjusted using the same or similar techniques to those used with adults, but with significantly less force applied on account of the child’s smaller size. Adjustments take just a few minutes, but you should allow as much as an hour for your child’s first visit. When you come in for your child’s first visit you should be prepared to discuss your child’s health history including the history of the pregnancy (medication use, complications, etc.) and of labor and delivery.
Keeping your child’s spine and nervous system healthy is one of the most important things that you can do for their health. Make regular chiropractic care a part of your family’s wellness regime!
